The feature, at one point titled Kill Switch, was to have rolled cameras in the spring, but the novel coronavirus pandemic forced a postponement. As such, the project lost some actors and gained others. George Clooney, John Cena and Sebastian Stan, for example, could no longer participate.
The final call sheet includes Don Cheadle, Benicio Del Toro, Amy Seimetz (The Comey Rule), Jon Hamm, Ray Liotta, Bill Duke (Black Lightning), Frankie Shaw (SMILF) and Julia Fox (Uncut Gems).
With a script by Ed Solomon, Sudden Move is set in 1955 Detroit and centers on a group of small-time criminals who are hired to steal what they think is a simple document. When their plan goes horribly wrong, their search for who hired them — and for what ultimate purpose — weaves them through all echelons of the race-torn, rapidly changing city.
